Precedent was set in the Old Testament. From the days of King David, worship leaders with a special passion and ability to serve the Lord have been set aside to bring Glory to God. The worship leaders of the Tabernacle and Temple devoted themselves to proclaim God's word and to bring Him praise and thanksgiving.
New Testament believers used their God-given gifts for the building of His body, the Church. Each believer ministered with focus and passion according to their spiritual giftedness.
The Worship Ministry vision at First Baptist is to mobilize, equip, and deploy those individuals whom God has called to serve Him. Through fellowship, nurture and coaching, we seek to proclaim God's Word and to exalt the name of Christ with the excellence of skill He deserves.
The Worship Ministry here at First Baptist exists to lead God's church in praise and worship of Him. We are committed to not only being men and women who desire to worship God in spirit and truth, but to develop more and better disciples of Jesus Christ who are skilled in teaching and leading His people to rightly worship Him.
The First Key to worshipping the Lord is to desire to bring glory and honor to Him above yourself. This is why one of our purpose verses is Psalm 115:1, "Not to us, O Lord, not to us but to Your name be the glory forevermore because of your loving kindness and truth."
The Second Key to worshipping the Lord is to live a life that reflects a relationship with Him that is transformed by His love and power. Colossians 3:17, "Whatever you do in word or in deed, do it all in the name of the Lord, giving thanks to God the Father.
The Third Key to worship is to have a heart of celebration and thanksgiving. Psalm 32:11 says, "Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous ones; And shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart."
If you desire to worship God and want to grow in your understanding and skill in worship, come and join us. We are always excited about new members and welcome your interest and participation.
