Women's Ministry

Women’s Ministries of First Baptist Church is committed to all facets of ministry to and by women, which includes our participation in various American Baptist Women’s Ministries (ABWM) programs. We adopted the ABWM logo, which portrays our biblical heritage. The woman of our logo is stepping from her baptismal waters, confident in her belief in Christ and in her God-given talents and abilities, as she carries the lighted lamp, serving the Christ of the empty cross, the light of the world. Embodied in the woman of our logo are the women of the New Testament who were among the first to know and believe that Jesus Christ is God’s son. They encountered the cross and their commitment deepened which led to the waters of baptism and serving God’s world.

Purpose
The purpose of Women’s Ministries is to express Christ’s love to the women in our church and in our community. We desire to provide avenues for developing a servant’s heart and for servant hood. All women are encouraged to participate according to each one’s needs, interests, and gifts as led by the Spirit of God.

Mission Statement
With the foundation of our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and through the enabling of the Holy Spirit, and in commitment to the mission of First Baptist Church of San Mateo, Women’s Ministries provides opportunities for each woman to:

Become and develop as God’s person; Become and develop as Christ’s servant through growth in a relationship with Him; Glorify God in her life, church, community and in our world; Serve God’s world by meeting personal needs with Biblical responses.

Circles
Small groups of women gathering together to serve the Lord with their hands while their minds are fed on a devotion from His Word. The focus is fellowship for service to missionaries and to support the American Baptist Women’s Ministries White Cross efforts. On a rotation basis, each month, one Circle provides cookies to the USO, (a hospitality organization for military personnel). The Circles also host: the Women’s Mother/Daughter Dinner in May, the Christmas Tea in December and various luncheons during the year. These events are wonderful ways to meet women of all ages in an informal, congenial setting. All women of our church are invited to attend a circle that meets at a time convenient for them. Childcare is provided as needed.

"Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as we see the day approaching." Hebrews 10:24-25
